DESCRIPTION

The xtrek game is a real time, interactive shoot-em up space war game.

It is a fun and exciting pastime, which can waste hours of valuable time, and comsume CPU minutes like there is no tomorrow. It is also useful in overloading the average ethernet to a horrifying extent.  

X DEFAULTS

The program understands the following class values:

font (class Font)

Specifies the name of the normal font. The default is ``vtsingle.''

background (class Background)

Specifies the color to use for the background of the window. The default is ``white.''

foreground (class Foreground)

Specifies the color to use for displaying text in the window. Setting the class name instead of the instance name is an easy way to have everything that would normally appear in the "text" color change color. The default is ``black.''

cursorColor (class Foreground)

Specifies the color to use for the text cursor. The default is ``black.''

reverseVideo (class ReverseVideo)

Specifies whether or not reverse video should be simulated. The default is ``false.''

COMMANDS

Mouse buttons:

LEFT fire torpedo.

MIDDLE fire phaser.

RIGHT turn ship.

Keyboard commands:

. Set fractional warp speed

k Set course

p Fire phaser

m Drop a mine

n Toggle bell.

t Fire torpedo.

d Detonate approaching enemy torpedos.

e Detonate your torpedos.

D Detonate your mines.

T Turbo mode ON/OFF.

j Jump (teleport).

+ Raise shields.

- Lower shields.

u Toggle shield UP/DOWN.

b Bomb planet.

z Beam up your armies.

x Beam down armies.

f Follow locked ship.

R Repair your ship

o Orbit planet

H Bring on robot horde.

Q Quit (self-destruct).

? Repeat messages.

c Raise/Lower cloak.

C Coup a planet.

l Lock on ship/planet.

@ Toggle co-pilot.

* Create easy-to-kill robot.

& Create mongo-tough robot.

SP Remove information windows.

L List active players.

P List planets.

S List scores.

s Create/Destroy status window.

U Toggle "show shields" flag.

h Create/Destroy help window.

w Show war window.

ENVIRONMENT

Xtrek uses the environment variable ``DISPLAY'' to specify which bit map display terminal to use.
